October would not be October without going to a pumpkin patch with our little guy to pick out a pumpkin. We did just this on Saturday. Our schedule has been packed full every weekend since well...honestly, I think we have lost count. Finding a couple of hours to do something relaxing and fun with Jude was a nice treat for us all. Jude loved every minute. Firetruck "driving", pumpkin sitting, animal petting and feeding, donut eating, hayriding, and pumpkin picking are all the things that made this day a memorable fall event. We captured a lot of pictures and Matt even made a video of Jude. Take a look here on his Instagram account if you would like to see it. Also, if you want to view past times of pumpkin picking you can see those here and here. If you haven't been to a pumpkin patch in a while you may want to make that a part of your fall bucket list...you won't regret it.

How We Came About This Year's Costumes
It all began two weeks ago when I got pretty sick. After a sick day on Thursday and 5-day antibiotic treatment from the doctor, I was looking forward to getting well. Then, on Saturday Jude came down with an infection, which we found out from Urgent Care on Sunday was Pink Eye. :( So, the Wilson household was just feeling crummy last week (all but daddy, that is, he managed to escape all of the yuckiness). Okay, okay, I am getting to the point of why I am writing. All of this led to Matt staying home with Jude for two days. For those of you that know Matt, you know he loves any opportunity to dress in costumes. Well, our church's Harvest Party was the event we were looking forward to dressing up for. I had mentioned a few months ago that I wanted our costumes to channel Where the Wild Things Are (one of our favorite children's books). We looked up some different ideas, and then Matt found a DIY that I would have totally passed over and chalked it up to being too difficult, but not him. With some free time at home while nursing Jude back to health, he got to work. It ended with two uh-mazing wild things masks. We bought a teddy bear costume for Jude which we made a few alterations to. Matt added a tail and claw feet. I added a crown and viola...Max, the king of all wild things. And that is how this year's costumes came about.
"And now," cried Max, "let the wild rumpus start!"
“And Max, the king of all wild things, was lonely and wanted to be
where someone loved him best of all.”

Hook, Line, and Sinker
Fishing. Do you remember your first time? Jude's first fishing experience left us unsuccessful in the "catching department". We tried a second time last week for my brother-in-law's birthday celebration. I have to say my heart was pretty much bursting with joy watching Jude and my nephew, Blayze pull their first fish out of the pond with their poles. They were laughing, squealing, and jumping with delight all evening. These little guys have changed our family's world. I cannot explain how precious it is to see how much the boys love being with Grandpa and Grammy, and of course, the reverse is true too. After catching a lot of fish, Dad made hotdogs over the bonfire (along with two "helpers"). Then, we ate and just enjoyed being out in the crisp, cool fall air surrounded by those we love.

Fall + Friends = Fun
It just wouldn't be fall season without a few parties with people you love! Here are couple parties that we have been lucky to enjoy over the past few weeks. The first is with our youth group, Haven, at our annual Fall Fling. Color wars took place at this event and the battles were pretty fierce. ;) We ate out of a garbage can (that is, a can designed for garbage but used for cooking) and we had the most fun playing glow-in-the-dark volleyball. The second was an adult fall party at our good friends' home. The Kellers planned a wonderful themed party where the Pirates battled the Navy. I still think we need a rematch though, because I am not quite sure who the ultimate victors were. ;) We ended the evening with a firework show, which I for one was truly grateful for. Jude wasn't a fan of the loud booms this year, so I was finally able to see some.
