Resolving to Love

A lot of goal making going on around here at the Wilson household.  The clean slate that comes along with a new year is kinda invigorating, isn't it?  On the down side, sometimes the yearly resolutions sound the same...get in shape, eat healthy, get organized, read the Bible more, spend more time in prayer, be more charitable, etc.  Nevertheless, it is gratifying on the last day of the year to find that you kept a resolution all year long.  Although not a lofty goal, I actually did not drink regular cola all year long.  That's right, diet cola and I became real acquainted in 2012 (I told you it was not a lofty goal). ;)

I won't bore you with all of our 2013 goals, but I would like to share one.  The recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary, reminded us of how in need this world is for more love and kindness.  This resolution is hard to make measurable, but making a conscience effort to be kind everyday is one of our top goals.  People are hurting and troubled.  We may be the only light of hope they may see.  We don't want to miss an opportunity to show the love of God to them.  So whether it is writing a thoughtful card, paying for the car behind us in the drive-thru, saying a kind word to a stranger...love will be displayed through us.

The following pictures are of some great people doing just that...showing a little love and kindness.  Our youth for the past four years have met at 3:30am on Christmas morning to make breakfast to feed over one hundred homeless men.  I think the most amazing thing is that we don't have to beg them to do so.  They actually love doing this.  Did I mention this is on Christmas morning?

Christmas 2012

C H R I S T M A S...it's the best, isn't it!?!?  We had a busy couple of days filled with family, presents, food, and unforgettable moments.  Last year Jude was just 3 months old so the whole Christmas season came and went without phasing him.  This year was a bit different.  Last week two molars decided to come in.  That's right, TWO!  Not the best of times for any of us.  Thankfully, the pain must have decreased at the right time since the holiday was a hit with Jude.  He loved his gifts...and boy, did he get A LOT of them.  Also with all of the family members giving him their undivided attention he was in spotlight heaven.  Honestly, it was really hectic and exhausting for us trying to make it through six Christmases in two days (not to mention, hosting one); however, Christmas has a way of being amazing no matter what.  We are so thankful for the chance to celebrate and also to remember the reason we celebrate...the birth of our Savior.

Hoping you have a blessed holiday!

Train Ride to Santa

Oh what fun it is to ride,
To Santa on a train.

Okay, so the lyrics to Jingle Bells may need some reworking, because this rendition is totally true...that is, according to our family.  We took Jude on a train ride last weekend called The North Pole Express.  Let me tell ya, our little guy was all smiles and oohs & ahhs for the entire trip.  It could have been partly due to the fact he was in a moving vehicle without a gazillion straps and buckles keeping him from moving.  The trip consisted of a 30 minute ride to the North Pole.  I know, right!?!?  Who knew it was so close?  Then, we saw Santa & Mrs. Claus, drank hot cocoa, ate gingerbread men, and colored pictures.  We also met some of Santa's elves on the ride and they made a pretty cool Rudolf balloon for Jude.  So, if you are around Lebanon, Ohio and you happen to like trains...well, we certainly recommend going on this adventure.
