SOYC 2013 Recap

Every year we take our church youth to Southern Ohio Youth Camp (SOYC).  It is a week filled with a lot of Jesus, friends, sports, games, fun, and heat (no air conditioning!!!).  With Jude in tow, Matt & I stayed in a camper all week and had an amazing time with our students.  Jude ran from daylight to dark and didn't seem to tire...we on the other hand were worn out.  ;)

Another Summer Wedding

We traveled south to London, KY this past weekend for our friend, Susannah's wedding.  It was a lovely day for a lovely wedding.  Susannah made a beautiful bride.  I wish we could have taken more pictures of the wedding and reception, but watching over a toddler seemed to take precedence.  There were several fountains at the wedding reception, which is where Jude wanted to stay most of the time.  Speaking of fountains, why is it that they are usually surrounded by rocks???  For a little boy, that is extremely hard to resist.  So to the person in charge of cleaning the fountains, we apologize on behalf of our son. :)

Summer Break Begins...And Off to the Creek!!!

Last Wednesday was my first day of summer break.   Matt & I kind of get an added bonus with both of us being teachers and getting to have the summer off together.  The calendar fills up quickly, but when we do have free days we try to make them count.  We always make a bucket list and must-do list for our break.  One of the first things we wanted to do this summer was take Jude to the creek.  I grew up across the street from a creek for the first 10 years of my life.  Going to the creek was always a highlight for me.  So, on our first day off together that is what we did...we took Jude to Twin Creek in Germantown.  Once he adjusted to the cool water temperature, he had the best time.  We took some buckets, cups, and a net, and they were used to catch minnows, crawdads, and fish.  Jude didn't mind touching or looking at any of the little creatures.  Although he definitely preferred to walk around in the creek picking up rocks and throwing them.  While we are on that topic...what is it with boys and throwing rocks???  We ended with eating a packed lunch under the covered bridge, and as you can see Jude loved the grapes.

Trying some mulberries from a nearby tree!

A Taste of Italy...Deli Style

If you start talking favorite places to eat, I am not one of those people that have one or two...I have a list.  However, if I had to narrow down my list...DiSalvo's Deli would definitely be in my "top 5".  I mean, this is the place that I ask Matt to take me every birthday.  I'd prefer this little store front deli to any fancy restaurant.  Why?  Well, let's see, they have mastered "sandwich perfection", everything is fresh, the workers are personable, and the dessert, OH, the dessert!  I do happen to have a favorite dessert...tiramisu, and they have the best of the best!!!

This weekend we went to DiSalvo's Deli.  Matt and I got our usual...him-chicken parmesan sub and me-Italian sub.  Jude, as always, helped us out with the eating part.  Then, we ordered a slice of tiramisu and a cannoli to go and took them to The Greene to eat outside.  We tried to get Jude to run through the fountains while at The Greene, but he was a little apprehensive about it.  He thought they were pretty cool though, seeing as he stood right beside them for 1/2 an hour and had to be coaxed to leave. :)
